April 20--06- I tend not to update this very often. Lots of different things on the go, rumor of a couple of visitors coming soon. Also a rumor I may be in the east. But I am confirming, I won't be in the far east. Mar 22 -06- By the way 2nd update since November, but forgot to mention my parents had a lovely visit to Vancouver in mid-January. Here's a photo of my mom drinking in a Whistler bar and my dad catching some fresh powder in the trees. Feb 25-06- Okay finally an update, last one was in November. Quick run down, we spent xmas here, been working lots, kim makes nametags now at her new job, I have laser eyes, went to San Diego, couple of trips to Seattle. That's all. Still should put up some new photo galleries. Nov 29-05- Busy weekend just past, went down to Seattle to do some work. Promoting my event at the Seattle Marathon, then run back on Sunday morning to make it to the afternoon Grey Cup game. Fitting in a couple of VIP parties in the mix. And today 2 inches of snow in Vancouver, there are school closures. Nov 17-05- Alright kids, it's here! The new forum is online, now you won't see much difference up front, but to us nerds the back end has been improved dramatically. You really can notice the difference between the free servers and the paid webservers. So now online are
the new improved, ad free forum; new multi-webcam server is ready and
waiting for more content to come online; advertising has been removed
from both. Also access to both has beeCheck the following links - So hopefully with the new forum we can add more content, hopefully solicit more input from past and present viewers. You can now post messages on the board and to individuals on the board as well. Play around, have fun. Nov 14-05- I get behind in these blog entries pretty quick. Let's start with a little recap of the past 3 weeks. Problem with the web-forum, getting too large, make some changes, everyone stops writing in the forum. Mike writing new code, new hosting and other new features coming. Halloween - they do fireworks here in BC, sell them in the store light them off in the street. It's weird. And the old man in me get's waken up in the middle of the night. First weekend of November - take a Japanese friend to work weekend. Graham and I become truck drivers, take turns hanging off the back of cube vans on the highway, redirect traffic places they shouldn't go. Last weekend - oh yeah remembrance day is a holiday here in BC, Kim and I go to Seattle for the weekend. She got to shop, I sat with the old men in the middle of the mall. Then lots of toursist activities, photo gallery probably coming soon. Couple of updates in the knittens. Still missing some photos from last year's season of knittens. Oct 25-05 - Little experimentation going on. Get a webcam - I'm setting up our own little voyeur network of webcams. Do you think we should do it this way - or have a drop down of menus that you can select the one you want to see. I am serving this off of another account. Post your thoughts in the forum. Not sure if this is irony or one of those english terms I forget - but I open up one of those part-time night school course registration books today. I flagged a couple of courses I thought I might like to take. But I missed registration and the courses have started already. One of the courses was "Overcoming Procastination". Oct 19-05 - Some of you have figured out the webcam has switched over to a new guest host. Some of you just dont seem to catch on to the whole technology thing. That's alright, there are alot of things I don't understand either. We'll see how this goes for awhile - now instead of just looking at my empty apartment you get to look at CarrMan's empty apartment. But there has been some new blood in the forum. Have to see how long that lasts. Kim started a new job Monday past, now she makes nametags. Her boyfriend Graham started one last week too. Nothing much else exciting or new, come get bored, we're expecting you. Oct 12 -05 - I've been in Portland Oregon for the past week, meeting congressmen, ceo's and cavorting around to different VIP functions. In the states you don't hear much about hockey and nothing about CFL. So low and behold I come back to find that I am last in a certain hockey pool; that means two things; 1- no one has the same team as I; 2- your going to see the biggest turn around of all time. Watch out second last here I come!! I brought back some american propaganda that I hope to post up the next couple of days, that I know you will all find interesting. Kim was in Victoria this weekend, I don't think she met any celebrities though. On her return she ran a 10k Turkey Trot, than went on a date with Graham. The things that happen when I'm on the road. Working on the new "guest-cam" program, should have something new (other than our small apartment) by the end of the week. Dependent on people's technical functionality. Portland is really nice, I recommend it. Check out the new alaskan Salmon-Thirty-Salmon. Sept 28-05 - Well let's see if I can come up with some sort of recap for the month of September. Graham live heres now, so we see a fair amount of him around, between the computer lessons and him getting kicked out while Vicky studies. Jesse was over on the weekend from the Island, went on a walkabout. I think Daryl is coming this weekend, still unconfirmed. No one has said they wanted to host the webcam - I think Andy or Carrman should give it a try - it's pretty easy. We'll stalk a celebrity this weekend for Kim. There's been some CFL Football and Kim is walking dogs at the SPCA. Yesterday, I had some adventure - about 3am two bums get into a fight at the 24hr convenience store across the road, wake me up, they start throwing recycling at each other. Than I couldn't get back to sleep. Then in the afternoon about 2 - I was heading to the bank, go out the back door and there is a drunk/high 20 something girl half passed out on our back step with a fresh pile of steamer beside her. Gotta love living in the city. Oh and get your entries in for Andy's hockey pool! Sept 14-05
- Due to a certain individual that this website is no longer
able to identify, the Coombs Camping gallery has been censored. Please
post your reactions in the forum. Aug 29-05 - Lots of movement in the forum today - I just hope people learn how to use the keyboard and respond to what they read. It's a very synical morning. Plus I worked a manuel labour gig at an event on the weekend, got the mild heat exhaustion thing, and then a cold - so everythings just adding fuel to the fire. Notes in the forum - new internet contest launched - win great prizes! Also new idea of guest hosting the webcam! See forum for details. Aug 24-05 - I see one of my more recent blog entries has caused quite the flare up of controversy in the forum. Well about time there were some responses in the forum - and not just on lookers. But in my defense - if the site next door was partying it would be one thing - but it was the lone 35 year old drunk grandmother who was shouting all night. And she only had a half hour of material - so she repeated the half hour loop of yelling over and over, ALL NIGHT! "Where's my pillow!" "Why don't I have a blanket!" "This sucks!" "This is great!" on and on and on. There is a difference between partying and being a stupid hapless drunk. Also been hunting for an apartment the past few days. See forum for details, think that may be done. Aug 22-05 - Went camping in the interior this weekend. Stoping at Harrison Hot Springs on Friday, looked at some sand sculptures, but at the campground there was this skid family with a couple of 40 year old weekend rocker mom's with there 8 yr old grand children, drunkenly keeping me up all night. So I had them kicked out of the campground at 8am when we got up. Then we drove up to Vernon on Lake Okanagan, it was like 35' up there in the mountains, everything was brown - no wonder there are forest fires. But we know this guy up there that owns a liqour store and bar, which was handy. And there was lots of lake swimming. Some ducks ate of kim's hand. I'll post up photos later this week. Also Vicky (graham's girl friend) moved here on the weekend - trying to find a place this week. I think he is moving here soon - maybe he could let people know in the forum. Aug 16-05 - Busy physical weekend to offset the nap taking, booze filled weekend with Adam last weekend. Good long hike friday in search of ice cream. It seems everyone in Vancouver serves gelato - not ice cream. Saturday big long bike ride, saw a midget, a clown, some ponies and a guy wearing a towel - all in different parts of the city. Today a brutal mountain climb up Grouse Mountain - now ye ol quads are burnin'. And congrats to all those who were married this weekend - Eric & Denise, Brandon & Laura - and my dad's birthday Saturday. Aug 12-05 - He's come and gone - the mysterious Papa Snax, visiting the Western Canadian soil - first time in 20 years, and almost 3 years since last in Canada. Now in another province staying just ahead of any outstanding warrants. Be forewarned Doughy. It was a funfilled tour with lots of naps across and around the city. Oh yeah - I updated the knittens today - the usual reminder that if you have one - please make sure you send in a photo, and if you want one - let me know. Aug 9-05 - Well we have had a guest since Friday - you may have seen him on the couch, sleeping - between bouts of jetlag and booze. We'll have some adventure photos later in the week. Be forewarned Ontario - he's on his way! I put up some photos today fo our camping trip on the BC Day (Civic) long weekend camping trip at the Coombs Bluegrass Festival and on Quadra Island - maybe you should look at a map and you could learn where this is. July 21-05 - I've started a little redesign, thought I would try it out in the back side first. At least here the content gets updated a little more frequent than on the front side. I'm sure a couple of web critics will rip it apart, but at least it is a change in content. If there is constructive feedback - email or post up in the forum. July 20-05 - Some ass was ringing the buzzer to our apartment at 4:20am this morning. Now I am grumpy. If any of you monkeys are in this area - do not ring my door buzzer between the hours of 10pm and 10am - I will just call the police. Kim went down to the kits pool on Sunday and got quite sun burnt. We were in Calgary a couple of weeks ago (post photos soon), the plan was to ride a mechanical bull, it didn't happen. But, we did see Vanilla Ice in the Calgary Airport Harveys having a heap of poutine I quote Vanilla "I'm gonna get me some more of this poutine before we go! Word to your mutha!". Back to the mechanical bull, I had associates check out two known bull bars - both had removed them for the stampede due to "drunkard liability" reasons. Than at Ranchmans they were setting up, but having difficulty, and kept saying it would be up in10-15 minutes - so three hours and a number of beers later - we had to leave before Chilliwack came on stage and to make it to the Chuckwagon races. So we didn't make it. But research is going well and I will ride a mechanical bull before labour day! July 06-05 - Well I know you all have been chomping at the bit, checking back daily to see if anything on this webpage is ever updated. Well sorry to disappoint you and today - the only updates are this blog entry and the photos from our camping trip on the weekend. Canada Day long weekend - kim and I went over to the island to do some camping with Daryl, visiting such exotic locations as Englishman River, Nanaimo, Coombs, Port Alberni, To-Fin-O, and Ucluelet. As you can see in the pictures there was alot of nature to visit. Tofino is supposedly the surfing capital of Canada, and although there were alot of surfers - there were no waves on our visit. It is also one of the western most points in Canada you can visit. Other things that have happened in the 6 weeks since last blog - the big run I was working on (Jun 26), I think Lale & Jesse were here for a visit (late May), I turned 31 (Jun 4), BC Lions season started, can't really think of much else - I was pretty busy in June. What's coming up - Kim and I visit Calgary and the Stampede (Jul 9), Adam visits from Korea (early Aug), maybe some more camping on the island. Anyway that's about it for now. May 20-05 - Recap of the past couple of weeks - been working on this run I organize, looking for more work. Last weekend the 13, 14, 15th - went over to the island with Sideburnio and the mountain to work on a project at Daryls. To recap so far - we have put in Hardwood flooring in the dining area (xmas), tile in the kitchen (easter) and this past weekend we created a built in window seat with giant book shelves. I designed it, jesse built it, and daryl made pancakes. A reminder kids - don't just read the forum, participate - it makes things much more enjoyable for all. May 6-05 - Some friends of ours out here recently won some stuff in a today's parent photo contest. Mother and child photo theme - see winning photo. So Kim thought hey maybe to celebrate Andy's vasectomy we should enter Andy and Truman in the June, Father and child photo contest - see photo. So we did. I hope Andy doesn't get too mad at kim. - UPDATE - ANDY DIDNT WIN. April 27-05 - Finally put up some photo galleries, cara & andy's visit, camping on pender island, and the sun run. Jesse is going to send through some photos of our latest flooring adventures on easter weekend, then I'll put those up. Kim is still in Ontario, comes back tomorrow - or later today - least I think so. Sun Run was good, it is the largest 10k in Canada, second largest in North America, 48,000 people run it each year. I wrangled some VIP passes which makes it a pretty sweet run. Kim met the mayor, but we didnt get a photo. This week is nuts, kim comes back, U2 concert, there is a big marathon this weekend so I have to work tradeshow, and attend more vip receptions. Real tough. Oh yeah we got a new camera so I took some photos at the beach this weekend. April 26-05 - It's been pretty quiet on the webpage lately. Both in my updates and the absence of PNS in the forum. I can keep writing fake promises in here that I'll do an update, if it makes you feel any better. Kim is in Ontario, been there for a few days now. I think she comes back tomorrow. It has been awhile since I did an update, there's photos of Cara & Andy's Visit, Pender Camping and Beach Sunshine to put up. As well as the knittens. I should really get around to that. April 08-05 - Little recap - I havent felt like updating the page lately, so I havent. But now I have lots to put up, and will do when I get around to it. Tough. Here are the photoshop shenanigans I was the target of on St. Patricks Day if you havent seen them. Cara and Andy were in town for a week, visiting trees, brewpubs and her sister. Kim is practicing sleeping in a sleeping bag, we are going camping this weekend on Pender Island. Maybe I will get this updated next week. Maybe. Mar 17-05 - Happy St. Patricks day! Other than that, no comment really. Big bike ride last weekend. Bought bells for the bikes this week. With the collapse of Jetsgo, kim is not going home for Easter. Rumor that Cara and Andy are coming out after easter but no confirmation or further info. Might be a tiling weekend at daryls on easter. We like to spend holidays renovating in Duncan. Mar 08-05 - Well they left this morning. G&V are on their way up to Revelstoke to pickup the repaired auto and head back to Fernie. Graham and I did not manage to go for Colon Hydrotherapy, but did go for tans. Graham burnt his groinal regions. Vicky was here to check out SFU one of the schools she has applied to do her masters at. I think we were able to overcome Grahams past negativity to our Western city. It has also come to note - that they may be some loyal readers of the site and forum. You know the forum is open to participation - and is the key to communication. But anonymous entries are not encouraged. Mar 07-05 - Are they ever going to leave? Mar 06-05 - I like to start these things off pretty much the sameway it seems; a little reflection, something that could be considered insight and then a look to what might happen soon. So. Well, Graham and Vicky have been here now for a couple of days - no end in sight yet, doesn't look like they will be leaving soon. Friday we went for a tour around the city and capped the evening off with drinks with Dave & Jen. Graham and I missed our Hydrotherapy appointments. Then Saturday long stroll around, down to the market grabbed some supplies and walked from the market to Stanley park, where we had a feast of cheese and wine. Then into the aquarium where Graham watched a beluga take a pooh. Mar 04-05 - Vicky has asked me to reiterate that Graham was driving when they hit the elk, in her car. All are here and we have a full weekend of activities planned. I will have to remember to take my camera along. Watch the webcam for random snippets of Graham adding some excitement. Mar 03-05 - Well, Graham and Vicky didn't make it to town yesterday. They were on their way and hit an elk, 10k outside of Revelstoke. Now you may ask where Revelstoke is, it's no where. Up in the mountains about 6 hours from Vancouver and 5 hours from Calgary. They are both okay, the elk is not, nor is Vicky's car. New hood, quarter panel, windsheild, other repairs and a rental car later - they should arrive at some point today. Mar 02-05 - You see things happen and then I get to busy to put those things in this weekly blog update. How is your website coming along? I thought so. So anyway, last minute trip to Vancouver Island on the weekend - I suprised Kim by taking her to meet Mike Holmes. She was very excited when see saw him, as I kept it a suprise until we got there. Visited with Jesse and Lale, and had a feast. We ate at Demi-Tasse twice - Jesse's favorite (only) diner. Then coming back, our ferry was cancelled and the trip turned into a long one, had to wait for the next sailing. Graham & Vicky are coming into town today, so I should at least have something to post up here next time. Feb 22-05 - Well it looks like we are going to break sunshine records for the month of February in Vancouver, quite an anomaly for winter here. On the weekend went to the outdoor adventure show, not much adventure and not much to show. Also went for beers with Dave. Feb 16-05 - It was really nice on the weekend and there was a race we had to go to, so we rode our bikes around. But because we don't ride our bikes very often our buttocks hurt. Kim almost got attacked by a goose. Not too much this weekend - I was working most of the weekend doing race stuff about town. Looked at a couple of condo open houses, wont be able to get anything too big to start. but I think we will be able to buy by the end of the year. Feb 7-05 - This weekend, well Friday we went to a "Wellness" tradeshow. Must be one of those west coast things, but I need to research so I can sell tradeshow space later in the year. But anyway the show was filled with things like spiritual realignment, yoga, natural foods, supplements, life coaches. It was quite unique to say the least. Kim's favorite booth was the happy colon, a booth that offers recreational colonics. Rented "Shaun of the Dead", I would recommend you to view this zombie movie. Feb 2-05 - Let's see, how about a weekend wrap up. We rented a car this weekend because we had some running around to do. So ended up in the burbs Friday and Saturday, we went to a hardwood flooring auction for Daryl but could not find the right stuff. The King of Floors said we will never find it. Also stopped at a weird liquidation place and found some rareties, and a wool shop. Most shops are very condescending, but they were very nice. Saturday night Jesse and Lale landed, we saw a house fire, and then drove go-karts. I won, Lale spun out and was stuck against the wall. Sunday we visited Granville Island where we take all tourists, and visited some places downtown. Not really much else going on that I can think of this morning. Back to the grey, warm Vancouver winter. Jan 25-05 - Sorry folks, took the pages down temporarily. But I only received two comments on it, so I wasn't in too much of a rush to put them back up. Please note the change in the directory of the "F" page. Also please regard the new, friendlier content. Just remember that you never know who may be reading these internet pages, and although the forum is open for discussion, only you can be responsible for what you write. Now let me see what is happening. The weather out here has been all over the map. Record snowfalls for two weeks, now record temperatures. All the local ski hills (Cypress, Grousse, Seymour) are closed this week, because of their minimal base. Last week Mt. Washington on the island closed. Whistler only has 120cm base. If this weather keeps up the ski season will be done in mid February. Just ask Graham - he's in Fernie and they only have 134cm today and usually they are 4x that. Also last week Kim touched Brent Butt, and saw Nancy Robertson, the blonde girl from Corner Gas. They were drinking in the bar around the corner from our house. She was/is very excited. Jesse and Lale coming to the mainland this weekend, it's their first time off the island since moving west and are very nervous. Most of you are welcome to come visit, just let us know when. Jan 18-05 - Well kids, we finally got rid of all our snow. The city was shut down for a week, they do that here when it snows, one of the many reasons they are so relaxed out here. Now it is pouring rain, flood warnings and all the snow is gone. I have not done an update in awhile because I have been doing alot of computer work lately and when I'm done for the day, I'm done. I had to take down a couple of galleries to make room for new ones. I think this may be a regular thing that I will have to take them down after a while. Until I start getting subsidized by the government the space will be limited and there will be ads in the forum. Still not enough people participating in the forum. Adam and I are dissapointed in you. Let's think has anything happened in the last couple of weeks, kim's aunt and uncle visited from Toronto, and Heather from Toronto visited. Heard from Graham - he lives in Fernie, might come for a visit in March. Jan 06-05 - There is 2cm of snow on the ground this morning and the city is in chaos. Accidents everywhere, I think they may have even closed some offices downtown. The salter and the plow are running around, but how much ground can two trucks cover. I think I'll take the hairdryer out front with an extension cord and clear our street for them. Jan 03-05 - A quiet New Year's playing video games and watching movies. But we went by the Polar Bear dip on Saturday morning. It was too busy and we were too late to get in on the action, we will have to do it next year. But it is hard to call it a Polar dip when it is +4 out. And then the weather today, wait till it chills up over the prairies and comes in with a good Nor'wester. Dec 28-04 - Well, just rolled in the door from our island christmas tour. Daryl, Jesse and Lale all send their best. I will put up some photos and do a proper update soon. I just walked in the door. Dec 22-04 - Look it's Wednesday and I'm doing an update. Does creating news actually count as news. Great veiws today - went around the corner for a coffee and the sun is shining on the mountains so you can see all the valleys and where the snow is on the mountain. Spectacular. Watch for the xmas live webcam as we unwrap our presents on xmas morning (9am Pacific). Then it's off to the Island and riding the christmas ferry. Also big updates to the knittens today. Dec 20-04 - Don't know why I only seem to update this blog on Mondays. I hope everyone is having a non stress lead up to the holidays. I heard it was cold in Ontario today -34' plus windchill in Toronto. That's unfortunate. We are in our bluster winter season as well it's been 8' for the past two weeks - and everyday is partly overcast with the chance of rain. Let's see this weekend wasn't too busy - just out for dinner at a friend's place. Trying to avoid shopping areas, people seem to get dumber around the holidays. Have fun at the coach with the broken plumbing, flat draft and the unspeakable bathrooms. Dec 13-04 - Well I still have the gokart for awhile today, but nothing exciting planned. And I am definitely shopped out. Saturday ended up driving the Fraser Valley, to such exciting towns as Abbottsford, Chiliwack, and Mission. Went to a nice waterfall, were Kim broke the law. And then over to the Harrison Hot Springs where we went for a soak. Sunday we went to a mall and I snapped, now I'll be staying at home a little more, with the house arrest and all. Dec 11-04 - Rented a car last night for the weekend. Good weekend deal from enterprise, I get a souped up gokart for 3 days for $40. We had a big list of things to do like big grocery shoppping and pick up some furniture. Well ends up we got all that done last night and now we have the car for two more days. I'm gonna have to figure out something fun and economical to do today or I'll be disappointed. And don't say go to the island - it costs $100 to take a car, or $10 to walk. and we're going over closer to the holidays. Dec 6-04 - I guess the thing with these blogs is that you are supposed to update them all the time - so people think that they are reading something important. It wouldn't matter how often I updated this it still would be true - there's nothing important here. Mr. Byers submitted a new website for the links - check it out up above in the links. Nothing exciting over the weekend, had to go to two christmas parties for kim's new job. But one was bowling - my high game was a 160 - but I averaged 122 over the four games. I need to utilize lorraine and get out bowling more often. Maybe join a league. Dec 1-04 - Was down in Seattle on the weekend at the marathon there. I saw one of the fattest americans I have ever seen. But unfortunately the only person I saw wearing the american flag was a child - flag shoes, hat and jacket. Went to a Jack in the Box, got the medium 42oz cola. I had an amusing anectdote but dont remember it at the moment. Nov 24-04 - Sorry week got busy and should have updated earlier. Busy weekend running around at a couple of business events, then took in the inaugural Vancouver Xmas Parade and then off to Grey Cup bars to get drunk and yell wildly. Did both, would have been better if the new local team had won. Any way off to celebrate Thanksgiving - I'll bring back some pictures of fat americans wearing their flag inappropriately. Nov 20-04 - A busy week in the forum - will the Snax All-Star challenge be allowed. Will Drrl ever get that kick in the groin he has so dreamed about. Here's a little photo to satisy Drrls challenge. Hopefully Snax will send in his own photo soon to prove his existence. I think I saw Mario Van Peebles best movie ever last night. Nov 19-04 - Well, yesterday was the official 3 week mark of our west coat adventure. And Kim accepted a job offer, so now we both have employment. Now only I will be around the house during the day and may be able to get some more work done. Not a very big weekend planned - but might have to go out and partake in some Grey Cup adventures. The new town versus the old town - but anyone visiting this site - pretty much doesn't have an interest in football. NEEERRRRDDDSSS!! Nov 16-04 - Really the secret of having your own website and blog is to update frequently. This means coming up with new content to add here all the time. That is the challenge. Then actually getting around to doing it is the next. Drrl was over on the weekend - our first guest. Saturday we went galloping around town Kits Beach, Granville Island, Yaletown, Downtown, Denman and English Bay. Only stopped at 3 pubs, a brewery and a restaurant. Talked to Dave Sebesta, saw Ben Surreals and Martin Scobie. And Drrl wanted to see Team America so we stopped in their to. Then Kim and Drrl proved themselves to the team. Nov 10-04 - Steve had a blog on his site and all the nerds say they are the rage so I thought I better add one to my website. Tomorrow marks two weeks in Vancouver for Kim & I. Greyhound lost my computer for a week, so I wasnt able to do much work wise and Kim hard time looking for a job. But, we got the place all setup last week and the new webcam the other day so you can take a look around. So this week we have a computer and it is time to catch up on stuff. Kim is looking for a job and has had two interviews already. I am still working for Runners Choice for a few months, and an event contract next year with them that will supplement whatever I end up doing. I am working on a web update and will have it up today or tomorrow. But Remembrance Day is a holiday here in BC so I should take the day off technically. Daryl's visiting the mainland this weekend and maybe he'll help add some spice to this site. |
